iGEM Bordeaux

Since 2012, students from the University and engineering schools have registered to the iGEM competition under Denis Dupuy’s guidance at the Institut Européen de Chimie et de Biologie (IECB). Other teaching and training activities in SB are also organized at the University of Bordeaux and the Polytechnic Institute of Bordeaux.

iGEM in Bordeaux 2016

Objective

In 2016, the iGEM Bordeaux team studies a sleep-inducing peptide.  To understand the underlying mechanisms of this peptide, it will be introduced in C. elegans. The team will assess the effect  of the peptide on the nematode’s sleep with the aim of controlling the sleep pattern.

Team

In 2016, the iGEM Bordeaux team is constituted of 22 students from Bordeaux University and the biological engineering school ENSTBB.

iGEM in Bordeaux 2015

Objective

In 2015, the iGEM Bordeaux team was awarded a gold medal for its study on Curdlan, a sugar biopolymer capable of replacing copper sulfate in vineyard treatments.

Team

The 2015 iGEM Bordeaux team was made of 19 students from the Bordeaux University and the Biochemistry and Biotechnologies Engineering School ENSCBP.

iGEM in Bordeaux 2014

Objective

The 2014 project was aimed at enginering E.Coli bacteria to produce elastic proteins.

Team

24 students from the Bordeaux University and the ENSTBB participated in this project.
